How this hub is structured
- The general playbook is at /guides/job-referrals — the 4-step framework that applies to any company.
- The per-company guides below take that framework and adapt it to each employer’s actual hiring patterns, culture, and outreach norms.
- The referral discovery feature — surfacing real named contacts inside the target company — is in the ResumesTailor product (Pro tier).
Big Tech (FAANG-class)
The largest US tech employers. Massive volume, calibrated loops, multi-week timelines. Referrals matter most as a filter past the initial screen.
AI labs
The frontier model and applied-AI labs hiring most aggressively in 2026. Referrer trust matters more than scale here — these networks are still small.
High-growth product companies
Mid-stage product companies with strong engineering brands. Hybrid or fully-remote, with deliberate hiring rather than mass funnels.
Data + cloud infrastructure
Data, observability, and edge platforms with substantive engineering bars. Heavy on distributed systems and infra depth.
Developer + design tools
Smaller-headcount product companies built around specific developer or design workflows. Network-driven hiring, craft-weighted loops.
Fintech + crypto
Regulated-environment hiring with security and compliance depth. Remote-first or hybrid policies.
How to read these guides
Each company-specific page is structured the same way so you can compare across employers:
- Snapshot — HQ, headcount, ATS, remote policy, top roles hired.
- Why a referral matters at this company specifically — what their funnel looks like and where the referrer leverage sits.
- How they actually hire — interview process, what they evaluate for, timeline.
- The 4-step referral workflow, adapted — who to ask, what signal to surface, what to write, when to follow up.
- What lands in outreach at this company — what to mention, what to avoid.
- Sample message you can adapt — the structure that works most consistently for that company.
- Company-specific FAQs — interview process, referral bonuses, common questions.
The format is consistent on purpose — once you’ve read one company’s guide, the others are scannable, and you can compare two companies side-by-side by reading just the “how they actually hire” and “what lands in outreach” sections.
Frequently asked questions
What is this page?
A hub of company-specific referral playbooks. Each guide covers one US tech employer — what their hiring process actually looks like, how to find a real referrer at that company, what to say in your outreach message, and what to expect from the interview loop. The general playbook is at /guides/job-referrals; these pages take that general guidance and adapt it to the specifics of each company.
Which companies are covered?
We started with the 20 highest-traffic US tech employers — Google, Meta, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Netflix, Stripe, Anthropic, OpenAI, Airbnb, Shopify, Databricks, Snowflake, Coinbase, Notion, Figma, Vercel, Cloudflare, Datadog, and Linear. We're adding more as we have the bandwidth to write each one with the same depth, rather than publishing thin programmatic pages.
How accurate are the company facts?
Every entry is sourced from public information (careers pages, public engineering blogs, public interview write-ups, official company statements) as of our last review date. Facts about hiring volume, referral bonus amounts, and ATS vendors change over time — we phrase claims defensively and update entries periodically. If you find an inaccuracy, contact us and we'll review.
Do I need a ResumesTailor account to use these guides?
No. The full playbook content is public and free. ResumesTailor's referral discovery feature — surfacing actual named contacts inside the target company ranked by reachability — is in the product (Pro tier and above). The guides here teach you the workflow; the product accelerates the contact-finding step.
What if my target company isn't listed?
The general playbook at /guides/job-referrals covers the framework that applies to any company. For company-specific notes you can find on most US tech employers, search the company's engineering blog, their Glassdoor interview reviews, and recent Hacker News threads — that combination usually surfaces the hiring patterns you'd want to know.
